Introduction (2')

The topic of our next three hours is an important issue nowadays. Although, it appeared in the past, it is only the last years that it has extented so much and concerned many governments all over the world. Did any of these help you guess the topic of our lesson?

Well, let me help you a little further. The word we are looking for is the one appearing in the picure, but the letters are in jumbled order. Can you guess the word now?

Step 1 (8')

Let's find out how many things you already know about our topic. Is immigration a modern trend or have people always immigrated?

Does Greece face any problems with immigration issues?

Do you know any immigrants? Has a relative/friend of yours ever  immigrated and for what reason? How would you describe their experience?
 

Step 2 (15')

You are divided in 5 groups. The groups will remain the same in every group work during all the phases of the scenario. Look at the word cloud which contains useful immigration vocabulary. By the end of this activity you should all know the meaning of all the words in the cloud. In case you do not know the meaning of a word, look it up in the online dictionary (http://dictionary.reference.com/).

You could also consult the dictionary to check the pronunciation of the words, or to read examples of the words in context.

Stage 3 (20')

Each group is given a graph or a flow chart, showing statistical data on the topic of immigration. Discuss your graphs in your groups and decide on the most interesting fact coming out from them. Help your teacher enter your information in the prezi presentation she has prepared for that reason. When you finish, you can enjoy the results of your group work!
